Hands On Video Relay Services (HOVRS), Inc. today announced its hiring of Kelby Brick as their Director of Legal & Regulatory Affairs. Brick, a deaf attorney, comes from the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) where he served as their Director for Law and Advocacy. He has also been active in numerous civic and rights advocacy organizations. Brick has co-authored the renowned book, Legal Rights: the Guide for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People, in addition to writing numerous articles that have appeared in various publications.
Brick graduated from Gallaudet University with a BA in Government and went on to Temple University Law School, where he became the first ever deaf person to graduate. Before being appointed as the NAD's Director for Law and Advocacy, Brick ran a solo private general law practice with an emphasis on civil rights, criminal law, estate planning, and lobbying.
"HOVRS has long proven its commitment to ensuring the highest quality and accessibility of relay services," said Brick. "I'm excited by the opportunity to come aboard HOVRS and focus my energies on carrying out HOVRS' commitment to providing the best possible service for deaf and hard of hearing consumers."
Brick, who is married with two sons, will be working out of Maryland and be HOVRS' point person on federal matters in Washington DC.
We are very excited to have someone of Kelby's caliber joining our management team said Ronald E. Obray, HOVRS founder and President. His passionate advocacy for deaf and hard of hearing consumers is a perfect fit to HOVRS' commitment to bringing down communication barriers for the deaf and hard of hearing.
