More than 50,000 South Carolina Medicaid beneficiaries can receive colorectal cancer tests under a program administered by the state Department of Health and Human Services, the Columbia State reports. Under the program, South Carolina Medicaid beneficiaries ages 50 to 64, as well as younger beneficiaries in high-risk groups, qualify for the tests. Colorectal cancer accounts for about 12% percent of cancer cases in South Carolina and kills about 900 residents annually, the State reports (Columbia State, 8/1).
