Health Canada is warning consumers not to use the product Neophase Formula for Men, which has been found to contain an undeclared ingredient similar to the active pharmaceutical ingredient found in Viagra. The use of this product could pose serious health risks, especially for patients with existing medical conditions such as heart problems, those taking heart medications, or those who may be at risk for strokes.
Neophase Formula for Men is advertised as a natural sex enhancer for men. The product was analyzed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and found to contain homosildenafil, a modified form of sildenafil, which should only be used under medical supervision. The use of products containing sildenafil has also been associated with serious side-effects including sudden vision loss, penile tissue damage and urinary tract infection.
This product has been found on the Canadian market but is not authorized for sale in Canada. The Canadian distributor has been contacted and is recalling the product. Consumers who may have purchased Neophase Formula for Men are warned not to use it, and should consult with a health care professional if they have used it and have concerns about their health.
Neophase Formula for Men is manufactured in the U.S. by Vigor Nutriceutical Healthcare Inc. in Wisconsin.
Health Canada also advises Canadians to contact the Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate at 1-800-267-9675 if they find Neophase Formula for Men in Canada. Health Canada has notified the Canada Border Services Agency to detain any shipment of Neophase Formula for Men at the border.
