Epilepsy Action Seizes The Chance To Open Research Access

Epilepsy Action announced today that it will begin making articles from its journal Seizure available free of charge on the worldwide web 12 months after publication.

Seizure, the European Journal of Epilepsy, provides a forum for the publication of peer-review papers on all topics related to epilepsy and seizure disorders.

Ingram Wright, chairman of Epilepsy Action's research committee, said: "The aim of the journal is to share and disseminate knowledge among all disciplines working in the field of epilepsy. So, it is vitally important for us to make sure that information and advice is accessible in terms of location and availability."

Seizure is published eight times a year by Elsevier Ltd on behalf of Epilepsy Action, the UK's leading epilepsy charity.

Regular sections include commentaries, reviews and editorials highlighting issues in epilepsy research. Topics include the basic sciences related to the condition itself, the natural history and epidemiology of seizures and the investigation and practical management of epilepsy.

The journal also reflects the social and psychological impact of epilepsy on the person who has it, family and society, and looks at methods and ideas to help alleviate problems and stigmas caused by the condition.
