A heart bypass operation by US surgeons is set to be broadcast live to a curious audience watching in Britain, it was announced today.

Organisers of the event, to be shown at the Science Museum's Dana Centre in London (UK), said it was the first time that such surgery had been broadcast to a public audience in the UK.

The viewers will also be able to quiz the American surgeons at Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey (USA) about what they are doing as the operation takes place.

It is part of an educational programme - Live From Cardiac Classroom - developed by the Liberty Science Center in the US.
