Responding to the Department of Health's submission to the Doctors' and Dentists' Pay Review Body, British Dental Association Chief Executive Peter Ward said:

"This would represent a significant cut for a demoralised group of caringhealthcare professionals who are already facing increased costs.

"Dentists will see this as a failure to tackle the current crisis inconfidence in NHS dentistry, now seriously destablised by the Government's flawed reforms."

1 The Department of Health has recommended a rise of 1.5 per cent on grosscontract values for family dentists in England in its evidence to the review body. Click here to review their evidence

2 In its own evidence to the review body, the BDA put the case for an uplift in gross contract values of 4.3 per cent, and the introduction of a practice allowance and a new scheme to replace the existing seniority scheme. Click here to view the BDA's Evidence
