Morinaga Milk Announces Research Results Of Lactoferrin On Peridontal Disease

Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the University of Niigata announced its joint research result of lactoferrin's effect on periodontal disease.
Lactoferrin, a protein derived from dairy products was found to suppress prevotella intermedia, bacteria found in periodontal disease. Lactoferrin is known for its immuonoregulatory activity and anti-bacterial effect. It is also found in the saliva.
The finding was reported at the 49th annual meeting of the Japanese Society of Periodontology. from October 20-21.
