Congressional Quarterly today reports that it appears unlikely that Congress will up action on Medicare physician payments in the post-Thanksgiving lame duck session. Preventing the scheduled cuts to doctor payments would tempt Congress to find other areas of Medicare to cut, such as homecare - and specifically home oxygen therapy.

Still, homecare providers should remind Congress to resist any more assaults on home oxygen therapy, home health, and other cost-effective  forms of homecare during the final weeks of the 109th Congress and next year, since the physician payment issue will come up next year if not addressed in the lame duck.  Stay tuned for additional details in the days ahead: http://www.aahomecare.org.
