Australian authorities vaccinated all its soldiers against anthrax before they went to Iraq. What it did not do, however, was to tell them that most of its soldiers who returned from Afghanistan previously, got ill from taking the same vaccine.

Thank God the soldiers sent to Iraq did not have the unusual side effects the previous soldiers had had.

Most of the Australian troops sent to Afghanistan in 2001 became ill, said the Australian government.

Officials are saying they did not tell the soldiers bond for Iraq because they did not want to make them anxious. They also said that they did not expect the soldiers this time round to suffer any side-effects.

75% of the soldiers sent to Afghanistan became ill as a result of taking the Anthrax vaccine. Confidential papers were released to an Australian newspaper under Freedom-of-Information Rules.

The soldiers experienced swelling, a high level of pain and flu-like symptoms as well. They never found out what caused the side-effects, suspended the vaccination programme for several weeks and then resumed it.

Australian military doctors have suggested that other factors could have contributed to the side-effects felt in Afghanistan. The soldiers were working at constantly changing altitudes, they had high physical workloads and the temperatures fluctuated a great deal.

In 2003, the authorities still went ahead and vaccinated all their troops sent to Iraq, even though they knew what had happened to their troops who had taken this vaccine before. The authorities did not even know what had caused the side-effects.

In order to demonstrate faith in the vaccine, Robert Hill, Australia's Defence Minister, vaccinated himself just before the troops were sent to Iraq.

About 40 service people were sent back from Iraq because they refused to be jabbed (vaccinated). They have not been disciplined.

So far, no unusual side-effects have been reported since the troops came back from Iraq.

'We were in a position where all we would have been able to tell them was that there had been a problem,' Air Commodore Tony Austin told reporters.

'We had not been able to identify a cause from that and we had absolutely no evidence to suggest that we were likely to see that again, based on overseas experience and our own experience when we reinstituted the programme in Iraq. So, I think to have advised people of that would have been quite counterproductive. I think that would have increased anxiety levels amongst our people.'

Opposition party defence spokesman, Chris Evans said 'The defence department hasn't been honest with the troops, hasn't been honest with the parliament, and the minister needs to provide answers as to what's gone on here."

Side effects Anthrax

posted by Matthew R. Moore on 22 May 2012 at 7:37 pm

To all Veterans. If you are having problems due to the vaccine. Get a (CBC) Complete Blood Count, simple blood test. Look at your platelet level. Get a bone marrow biopsy. Its painful, but, this will show how bad the damage is. I posted on here in May 2012. I suffered genetic mutation from the vaccine. If you got the vaccine and had children afterwards, are they having problems???? disabled??? disformed??? If you need help with your VA Claim contact me, I can help you. I was a Seabee, and fought a long hard fight andn won last year. I am fighting for my Medical Retirement now. Don't give up fighting!!!!!!

Side effects

Hi, yes that is one of the most common side effects of the vaccine, memory and speech. Please, have your husband contact me by email, i posted on this site ealier in May. This vaccine does effect the nervous system, and can cause cognitive disorders. Does he call the wrong name at times? As far as the cramps goes, chicken breast and bananna's will help. Have him play memory games, like matching, this will help build his memory up.

I also have degenrative disk disease

posted by Scott Gallagher on 17 May 2012 at 9:19 pm

To Kelly T. I was given the anthrax vaccines in 1998 at Fort Lewis Washington. When I recieved the first shot, my unit was made to stand in an observation line for five or ten minutes prior to our departure from the gym where we recieved this vaccine. While in line, my arms and legs became completely numb and I kneeled to the floor and was assisted by medical personal to an observation area. While in this area, I lost complete feeling to my body. I was fully aware of what was taking place with my body, and it surprised me that I was actually able to hold my urine. This was the first vaccine shot I recieved. The Unit I was in forced me to take the second shot or face discharge. I took the shot; the other five or six we were made to get. That was 14 years ago and since these events I have developed Degenerative Disk Disease from C2-C7. I have had to have the C5-C6 vertebres fused with a complete disc replacement. I have a Bi-polar-2 diagnosis, a rash that can't be tamed on both legs, migrane headaches, arthritus, Fybromalgia, hypertension, cartlidge replacement surgery in my Talus Dome, and a piss poor attitude; all diagnosed through the VA. I will spare you and the others my VA torment, just know I feel your pain and it sounds like there are an awfull lot of us with the same symptoms. (-:

Genetic Mutations/Anthrax Vaccine

posted by Matthew R. Moore on 10 May 2012 at 11:35 pm

I am the first to have documentation before, during, and after the anthrax vaccine. This is how bad it is. I received my first on 12/04/01. I had symptoms shortly after of hot flashes, sweating, fatigue, weakness, bone and joint pain, memory, and speech. My first bone marrow biopsy was COMPLETELY NORMAL in 08/2002. When I came back, I had a second bone marrow done in 12/2003. During that 16 month period, my bone marrow genetically mutated, chromosomes became abnormal, stem cells mutated, a type of bone marrow cancer, and blood disorder. I was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia. With my chromosomes, Chromosome 4 was effected with break points in band q31.3 and q33. In other words, this mutation is for Autism. This can happen from class2 vaccine's. I do not have Autism, but, I show how bad the damage is from the vaccine. There is no cure for my cancer, next it will mutate to Lukemia, then I'm dead. I have been fighting none stop for years. After I was diagnosed I went through 2 MEB's. Then I was discharged Honorable, but under preexisting. What bullshit. I just won my case with the freakn VA last year of March 2011. Now I am fight the BCNR to over turn my DD214 to Medical Retirement. I need my medical benefits, I cannot get none, I am to messed up, its to expensive. Also, I had to get fixed, because of the mutations. God only know's how it will effect children!!!!!!! I need help please, I need a Hematologist/Oncologist to look at my information. I have all of it, complete. I just need a letter stating its not genetic. I have to go to the Philadelphia VA now. The doctor's at the Wilmington VA are idiots. They admit verbally, it is not genetic, but they will not write a letter. Also, if you a veteran and you need help, let me know, I can help you get your benefits. mooremr75 (at) yahoo.com make the subject line title, Veteran Needs Help. God Bless you all, and NEVER GIVE UP FIGHTING!!!!!!

Retired Navy Vet

posted by James Reed on 17 Apr 2012 at 9:13 am

Prior to leaving for the gulf in the early 90's my entire ship was required to take the complete battery of anthrax shots (taken over a year). I was always healthy before these shots. For quite a few years now (prior to retiring) I have developed serious pain in my feet ankles and toes and it has now moved up to my knees and lower back. I was diagnosed as having gout? There is no family history of this problem to date, except myself. I also have rectal bleeding and serious high blood pressure along with some memory loss (I am only 50 yrs old). Anyone else with these symptoms? I am at my wits end with the pain and problems!

7 Anthrax injections

posted by Jackie on 14 Apr 2012 at 6:22 pm

I was in the Army from 1992-2002. I was a medic at Ft Hood so there was no way of getting out of the Anthrax injections. I had a 5-shot series plus 2 boosters since I also went to Korea. I now have IBS. My memory is now horrible-both long term & short term. I have to write everything down and set multiple alarms. I have constant headaches and I'm exhaused all the time.

Anthrax Side Effects

posted by Lucy on 24 Feb 2012 at 9:23 pm

I have now found someone with similiar side effects. I was given Anthrax before going to Iraq in 2004. I have been going to the VA for over 2 years now and have seen a Neurologist, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Physical Therapist and a Rhuemotologist. I was just told that I have Sjogren's Syndrone by the Rhumetologist and given eye drops for these white grainny things on the inside of my eyelid that have been making my eyes dry. I get these sores in my mouth and mouth dry because it is not producing enough saliva. My teeth have been rottening at an escalating time. I have a shooting pain that starts in hips/ass and goes down my left leg all the way to my toes. I get awful headaches. I'm tired throughout the day. I forget things all the time. My joints ache every now and then. I have gotten an infection (staph) in my hand from a spider bite last fall. I also bleed from that end area and was told I have gallstones. They haven't removed them, they are waiting for me to have more escruchiating pain to remove them. I already had one painful attack and waiting for the next one. I've had so many blood tests, x-rays and MRI's. I also came up positive for Lupis with high levels.

When I looked on the Internet about what this "" Syndrone is I found out it's another name for Gulf War Syndrone. I have a high tolerance for pain and was told to not drink anymore alcolol because my liver panel was high. I rarely drank any alcolol. I don't have any family history of any of this stuff. I feel cheated. I feel like my eyesight is going to go out on me because they burn like crazy throughout the day. Bright light hurts them and I would like to get this stuff taken care of. I served over 22 years and this is where I am now.

Hi, I was in the australian navy during the gulf in 02-03 and also received the injections. Currently I am lying in a hospital bed with what was perceived as a minor stroke. I am only 31 . On receiving my first injection I was out of action with major pain.headache and nausea for 3 days. 4 weeks later was called up for the next one. I was unsure about the side effects bug was told by medical staff that I will be fine as I s the firs injection that hurt the most. They lied. On receiving my second dose. I Was out of action for 3-4 days, my imune system shat It self and I came down with chicken pox.

Ever sine these injections I have ass problems to the point I don't no I ave shat until I smell it, I have headaches that come on faster than a ligh bulb and last fordays. Doctors have no explanations.

As I said I am currently in hospital. I have limited vision in left eye, tingling in hands and feet, loss of balance, headache. CAT scan and MRI scan say it s not a stroke and all neurologist have saidwedont no what is happening. I explained to the about anthrax injections etc but they are civy docs and have no idea. Has anyone had these types of affects 5-10 years after the injections no of any issues like strokes caused by the injection?

I ENTERED THE ARMY IN OCTOBER OF 96 AND GOT OUT IN OCTOBER OF 2000. I VISITED KUWAIT IN 1999 TWICE. I WAS GIVEN THE ANTHRAX VACCINE IN 1998. I DID ALL 7 SHOTS AND GOT MY YEARLY BOOSTER. THE PAIN WAS SEVERE RIGHT AFTER I RECEIVED THE SHOT. I HAVE FELT PAIN SINCE I HAVE EXITED THE MILITARY. I RECEIVE 20% DISABILITY FOR KNEE EFFUSIONS AND SWELLING. I BLEW OUT BOTH KNEES WHILE IN THE ARMY. LAST YEAR, I FOUND OUT THAT I HAVE ARTHRITIS IN BOTH HIPS AND A DETERIORATING JOINT DISEASE IN MY C-SPINE. NO ONE IN MY FAMILY HAS THESE PROBLEMS, AND I AM EVEN INCLUDING AUNTS AND UNCLES, ALONG WITH MY PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS, AND 7 SIBLINGS. I HAVE ANXIETY ATTACKS, I'M ALWAYS EXTRA ALERT, I HAVE HEART PALPITATIONS AND INSOMNIA. IF I DON'T TAKE A SEDATIVE TO HELP ME SLEEP, I WILL MOST LIKELY STAY UP ALL NIGHT. I AM UNEASY, AND I CAN'T EVEN HAVE A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY CHILDREN. MY FEELINGS HAVE BEEN NUMBED. I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSES WITH PTSD AND DEPRESSION. THE PAIN I FEEL AND NERVOUS OUTRAGES LEAVE ME UNEMPLOYABLE. I WANT TO KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS TAKEN THE ANTHRAX VACCINE HAS EXPERIENCED ANY BONE OR JOINT DETERIORATION

I got the Anthrax shot in 2009 in the army. I got out early before i had the 2nd course etc. I still got the anthrax shot though. I was always a healthy person throughout life. Once i got out i started having i.b.s, blood in stool, memory is horrible, I have these little bumps thatr show up and they are painful. My knees pop all the time, i have weird heart palpatations. I never would of thought the gov wd give their troops something like this garbage. Now i know, they dont want a bunch of well trained patriotic americans around. SO they give us all a soft kill weapon in the form of a slow body destroying shot biothrax. I'm going to try to detox from it. there is a holistic guy in canada rudy vespoor, who my friend who also had the shots recomended me to contact. also going to try asea water. idk im 29 but i shouldnt feel this way. currently having a phantom pain in right foot feels like a stabbing pain in there. I also get headaches that last for 1 to 2 days, like a migraine but worse. My brother also got the shot in the air force and has the same symptoms. Best wishes to everyone in their quest to become healthy again.-C

Anthrax and Panic Attacks

posted by Ron Wood on 21 Sep 2011 at 1:05 pm

I deployed to the persian Gulf for the 3rd time in 1997 and was given the full battery of anthrax shots. After leaving Active Duty in 1998, I contracted a weird disease which they labeled Menengitis which kept me bed ridden for 3 months. Following this I began to experience panic attacks and agoraphobia. The VA gave me 30$ disability for this disorder, but I am convinced it happened because of the shots they gave me. If anyone has links to anthrax and panic attacks, I would love to have it.

Desert Storm Veteran with PTSD and deppression

posted by Wayne R. Heiselman on 30 Jul 2011 at 6:08 am

I am a veteran of desert storm who is 70% disabled with PTSD and deppression, with moments of anger and chronic pain along with anxiety and I worry alot along with being always on the alert and cannot keep a job which makes me unemployable my condition has also become more active and I often forget things as I need to write every thing down. it is a very hard life to live with the symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome. I have alot of anxiety and I am on all these medications. I try to make the best of my life as I am now 48 years old. You know soldiers go off to war to fight for their country and the government forgets about us once we are done with opur service. The government needs to take responsibility at some point. I also have a chance to contact prostrate cancer as I have read through all the documentation and reports from veterans of service in the Gulf War Region all the evidence is their but yet the government takes no responsibility it is time they do as veterans we must stick together and organize ourselves. The owes us something.

anthrax vaccine and extreme pain

posted by Brandon Dodds on 9 Nov 2010 at 2:23 pm

I was a soldier in the U.S.Army and was given the vaccine in 1998. About six years later, I started having pain and swollen joints in my feet, ankles , and toes. I now have extreme pain all over my entire body. The doctors have diagnosed me with rhuematiod arthritis, but I have no family history of this. I think that they did this because they have no idea what is wrong with me.

I am a former soldier who has served in South Korea. I was given anthrax injections in 1994 &1995. Has any one out there been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and have had the injections, I am curious about this. I have MS and I am wondering is there a link. There is no family history, or it could be the luck of the draw.

Mysterious Anthrax Shots

posted by Kyoosun on 1 Sep 2008 at 1:06 pm

I have very similar conditions as he has. I began to take the shots in Oct 1998 while I was stationed in Camp Humphreys, S-Korea. I have been suffering from dizziness and joints swelling problems so many years.
I was able to stay in the Army until year 2005 because I was not a cambat soldier. After 9.11 I had deployment orders but unable to go due to my sickness for many years.
I was kicked out from the Army regardless my will to stay. I had very severe fear flying problem experience in January 1999. I have ahd joints swelling everytime I had field training exercise and heavy lifting. It usually happens on my fingers, wrist, elbowss, toes, anckles, and knees.
I was sergeant first class when I was discharged. I had 30% disability but they tried to get rid of the benefits this year. I still do not know anthrax causing the probles. But it is so obvious that anthrax is very suspecious.

Sister Of A Soldier Who Received More 6 Shots Of The Vaccine

posted by Evans on 1 Aug 2008 at 7:26 am

My brother was a United States Army soldier who was sent to Korea. He was required to get the anthrax vaccine, which comes in a series of 3 injections. Because he was in the field in between doses, they would start the series of injections over. By about the 6th shot, he informed the Dr. how many he had been given and the Dr. refused to give him more and began to question his health. Now, eight years later, my brother has panic attacks to the extent that he his afraid to drive. He has severe intestinal bleeding and no control over bowel movements, which has affected his ability to hold personal relationships and perform his job effectively, yet he is not considered disabled. What a shame that this vaccine is not considered harmful and veterans receive no acknowledgement that the vaccine is the cause of so much illness. Our soldiers fought for us and it is our duty to fight for their right to proper treatment or at least admission of cause.
