The Agriculture Department of the USA has said that a highly pathogenic strain of bird flu was found in Texas, at a chicken farm.

They say that the strain is much more dangerous to chickens than they had previously thought.

The chickens at this farm were infected with a different strain from other chickens found at other locations in the USA. The Texan one is much more serious.

They also stressed that this Texan farm's strain is of low risk to public health. It is not linked at all to the Asian bird flu.

The one in Asia has killed more than 20 people so far in the last few weeks.

The Agriculture Department said there would be a news release later today.
