Some eminent nutritionists are telling people that detox diets have dangers and that they should be careful.
After overdoing it during the Christmas break, millions of people in the UK have gone on radical detox diets.
Sales of brown rice and organic vegetables went up 75% in January, 2004.
Crash dieting increases your chances of having bowel problems and potassium depletion, says Dr. Catherine Collins, St. George's Hospital, London, UK.
Dr. Collins tells us that there is no scientific bases on the idea that detoxifying the body through what we eat and drink works or does not work.
Many detox diets claim to help you get rid of toxins you have built up due to indulgent living. Apparently, most of these diets are based on opinions and anecdotal evidence rather than hard statistics as a result of large scale trials.
