The Indiana University Adult Anxiety Disorders Clinic seeks participants for a clinical treatment study of medications for panic attacks.

Participants in the study must be over the age of 18 and have repeated panic attacks. Symptoms of panic attacks may include a racing heart and shortness of breath, fear of losing control, dizziness accompanied with a cold sweat, fear of dying and moments of sheer terror.

All patients who are eligible for this treatment study will receive a Food and Drug Administration-approved SSRI medication and some patients, in addition, will also receive a new extended-release formula of alprazolam, another FDA-approved medication for panic disorder.

Medications and study visits are free to participants. Those enrolled in the study will make 12 weekly visits and one follow-up visit to the Indiana University Medical Center.

For additional information or to enroll in the study, call 317-278-0038, extension 1.
