Diversity Of Careers In Pharmacy Explored In New Materials, UK

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has launched a new pharmacy careers leaflet and updated its careers website www.pharmacycareers.org.uk to build on the previous success of these materials, and to encourage more people to pursue a career in pharmacy.

During April, the careers website received almost 5,000 visits proving it is a valuable source of information to those considering a career in pharmacy. The updated website features new case studies and advice, and explores the diversity that a career in pharmacy can offer.

The updated leaflet promotes pharmacy to a broader audience than ever before and now includes a section for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants, explaining the vital roles they play in the pharmacy environment. The colourful and vibrant leaflet has been designed to appeal to young people, especially those between the ages of 13 and 17. Many of these students may not have considered a career in pharmacy but will be deciding which exams to take or thinking about which subjects to study at university.

Chair of the Education Committee, Graham Phillips, said: "Promoting careers in pharmacy is a vital part of the Society's function. There are now 73 Branch Careers Officers undertaking valuable work in attracting young people to a career in pharmacy. These new leaflets will be distributed to all schools of pharmacy and will provide a valuable resource at the many careers events that the Society supports."
