"We can either do this the easy way - or the hard way." Congressman Pete Stark (D-Calif.) didn't use those exact words yesterday when he spoke to a panel of providers during a Medicare hearing.
But he might as well have. As chair of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health, Stark heard testimony from representatives of hospital, home health, and other provider groups. In turn, Stark talked about the likelihood of "across-the-board" cuts to Medicare providers - unless providers help by identifying what to cut or preserve within their own specific sectors.
"It's going to be a busy summer," he noted. Click here to House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee.
