A second porn star has tested positive for HIV as the California porn industry halts, so far Darren James and Lara Roxx have tested positive (Lara is the second one to test positive). Both actors have worked together. The Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) confirmed both tests came back positive.

AIM has quarantined the actors who have been directly or indirectly in physical contact with these actors (indirectly means they had sex with someone who had sex with someone….etc).

The Southern Californian porn industry employs about 1,200 actors/actresses and earns about $10 billion a year. The whole industry has shut down for sixty days until they can find out how many actors are infected.

Both actors are the first ones to test positive for HIV since 1999.

Some experts are saying that the virus may have originated in Brazil where James had been working on a film earlier on this year.

Apparently, in only 19% of their sex scenes do they wear a condom.

THis is very sad. I do not feel that anyone deserves to be exposed to HIV. People need to stop being so careless and trusting and protect themselves. I have someone who means the world to me with it because she trusted her husband. It can some from anyone not just porn stars. Everyone needs to be careful.

Pornography, condoms and STIs

posted by daisy dushess on 2 Oct 2010 at 6:09 am

This is exactly why pornography should be more controlled! this is why young men think they can have sex without a condom and the girls they sleep with think condoms are un sexy or cool. When are the film makers and directors the actors and the producers going to take sum blinkin responsibility and realise that they are putting themselves at risk?! in turn putting others at risk with a message that says-this is how you have sex, without a condom!

I'm not surprised

I believe that there are more cases than that. I just don't understand why these people aren't using protection. This is utterly ridiculous. They have to believe that they are invincible or they're just plain STUPID. I am sadden by this. I do feel empathy for those who have contracted this through all means. Wake up Porn Industry. Testing is not a preventive method.Your chances are extremely high for coming in contact with HIV sooner or later. The money that you make abusing your bodies and risking your health will have you bankrupt trying to fight HIV to prolong your life. All that Work, will be for nothing.Just think about it.

Porn industry HIV scares - consequences

posted by Matrix on 17 Apr 2004 at 12:36 am

All acts do have consequences. Some consequences are immediate, while others are latent, some are obvious, others hidden, some affecting only the actor, others affecting a community or larger.
Ignorance of this fact only reflects on the immature character of the person. This was bound to happen and so it shall. But will it necessarily affect or change Americans perception or more importantly their sexual practices? I think not
