Kid Care CHIP, Wyoming's version of SCHIP, on July 1 began providing new mental health, vision and dental benefits to children, the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle reports. The updated benefits were proposed by a state benefits committee that meets every two years.
Beneficiaries now are eligible for nine additional days of inpatient mental health care. Beneficiaries also have the option of using their vision care benefit for contact lenses instead of glasses. In addition, under the changes, the cost of dental cleanings will not be counted as part of the $1,000-maximum dental care benefit. The dental care benefit was changed so that beneficiaries would not forgo regular checkups if they used the full benefit for costlier dental services (Frazer, Wyoming Tribune-Eagle, 7/6).
