MDA publications took top honors recently in two print competitions.
In the national 2007 Apex Awards for Publication Excellence, "Breathe Easy/Respire con Facilidad," a booklet published in English and Spanish about respiratory care in neuromuscular disease, received an Award of Excellence. The publication was written by MDA Medical and Science Editor Margaret Wahl.
Also, articles in MDA's bimonthly Quest magazine received accolades from the Communicator Awards, an international awards competition founded by communication professionals. Awards of Excellence went to a pair of Quest features: "Helping Kids Understand," written by staff writers Christina Medvescek and Kathy Wechsler, from July-August 2006, and "Happy Unbelievable Birthday," written by mother-and-daughter freelance writers Donna and Abby Albrecht, from March-April 2006. And, the May-June 2006 article, "Funding Freedom," written by staff writer Alyssa Quintero, earned an Award of Distinction.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education.
