Product withdrawal of potato wedges UK

The Food Standards Agency is today warning people with allergies who have bought Sainsbury's potato wedges that some could cause an allergic reaction.

A manufacturing fault has resulted in some 1kg packets of Sainsbury's frozen Jacket Wedges being filled with hot and spicy potato wedges, instead of plain ones. The hot and spicy batter coating contains egg albumin and wheat, which will not be declared on the outer packaging.

The Agency advises anyone with an allergy to egg or wheat not to eat this product. It can be returned to the supermarket for a refund.

The affected product has a 'best before end' date of March 2005 and a batch code NB4082S4. Sainsbury's is implementing a full product recall of the product. All affected products have been withdrawn from the supermarket's stores.
