The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is pleased to announce appointments to its staff team who will help the AGD enhance the quality of effective and efficient services the association provides to more than 35,000 members.

"We take pride in our knowledgeable and experienced staff and we are pleased these individuals joined our team to help us further the work of our organization," says AGD Executive Director, Christie Tarantino, CAE.

"Together, with our seasoned AGD staff and our fresh faces, our team remains committed to going above and beyond to ensure our members receive the best customer service and consistent communication," says Tarantino. "Our team is focused on enhancing existing tools and developing new tools and resources that meet the needs of our members and are relevant to the marketplace."

Suzanne Donovan, Coordinator, Strategic Alliances

Donovan was recently hired as the Strategic Alliances Coordinator, a new position created at the AGD. She will serve as the primary liaison to the AGD's strategic partners by helping to implement programs and providing monthly status reports and marketing support. She will also help development of future strategic partnerships and sponsorships by devising educational directives that create benefits for members. Donovan will also provide communication support to the Council on Dental Education, the Board of Trustees (Board), and the Foundation of the Academy of General Dentistry.

Before joining the AGD, Donovan worked for the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association as an Assistant Director.

Jennifer Goler, Administrator, Governance

Goler recently joined the AGD as the Governance Administrator, a position in which she will perform a wide variety of detailed and complex administrative tasks, in addition to fulfilling specific Executive Committee, Board of Trustees (Board) and House of Delegates (HOD) related responsibilities. Goler will also provide support to the Director, Governance & Strategic Initiatives with various relationship-building activities with external audiences.

Prior to the AGD, Goler worked at SmithBucklin, where she served as Operations Manager for the International Business Brokers Association. In that position, she coordinated conferences, managed two designation programs, prepared a $2.5 million budget, managed the database and worked with the Board and Committees.

Carol On, Specialist, Web Development

The AGD recently hired On as the Web Development Specialist. On will create and maintain public and internal web applications that will support the AGD's Web site. She will also design and implement databases that will support Web application developments and she will enhance staff's knowledge of and use of technology as well as participate in coordinated Web development efforts.

Before joining the AGD, On worked as the Software Analyst for Advance Innovative Solutions, Inc. In that position she analyzed, programmed and tested software in support of the application development of add-on applications to the pharmacy systems.

Rhonda Schultz, Coordinator, Educational Support Program

The AGD recently hired Schultz as the Educational Support Program Coordinator to coordinate the development, marketing and administration of the AGD's various award programs such as Fellowship of the AGD and Mastership of the AGD (FAGD/MAGD) programs, the Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition program, the CE awards of excellence, the Weclew award and the annual convocation ceremony. She will also participate in the Council on Dental Education (CDE) meetings and provide support for AGD's constituent MasterTrack programs and the Fellowship Examination.

Schultz joins the AGD from Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she served as a Network Representative. In that position she assisted physicians with reimbursement issues and planned continuing medical education (CME).

The AGD is a professional association of more than 35,000 general dentists dedicated to staying up-to-date in the profession through continuing education. Founded in 1952, the AGD has grown to become the world's second largest dental association, which is the only association that exclusively represents the needs and interests of general dentists. More than 772,000 persons are employed directly in the field of general dentistry. A general dentist is the primary care provider for patients of all ages and is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, management and overall coordination of services related to patients' oral health needs.
