Commenting on Age Concern's report into older people's mental health services, Chris Ball, Chair of the Mental Health Network's older people sub-group, said:
"As leaders in mental health care we warmly welcome this report. It is vital that we tackle the issues of discrimination and stigma in mental health at all levels - both in the context of provision and in wider society.
"The Mental Health Network will be working hard with members to make sure the work of the report is taken forward for the benefit of service users - especially in the areas of commissioning, care homes and acute hospitals."
1. The Mental Health Network represents the majority of mental health trusts. It was launched in spring 2007 to provide a distinct voice for providers of NHS mental health services.
2. The NHS Confederation represents more than 95% of the organisations that make up the NHS. Its members include the majority of NHS acute trusts, ambulance trusts, foundation trusts, mental health trusts, primary care trusts, special health authorities and strategic health authorities in England; trusts and local health boards in Wales; and health and social service trusts and boards in Northern Ireland.
