An excellent and comprehensive performance earned University of Canberra student Rosemary Pascoe victory at the National Pharmacy Student of the Year (PSOTY) counseling competition at PAC last month.
'I just want to say thank you to everyone involved, Alphapharm, PSA, all the students, it was so great to meet everyone and develop new friendships, and University of Canberra. Thank you so much,' Ms Pascoe said.
The six state and one NAPSA finalists each counselled two patients, one seeking stomach acid treatment and the other suffering a sore knee, both with underlying factors to be brought out and appropriately addressed.
The decision for the judges, PSA's Debbie Rigby and Dimitra Tsucsalas, NAPSA President Paul Buise, La Trobe University's Professor Kenn Raymond and Alphapharm's Allan Tillack, was by no means easy with all contestants performing admirably and professionally.
Ms Pascoe received the Alphapharm National Travel Prize, which includes travel, accommodation and registration to the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation (IPSF) conference in Romania in 2008. There she will have the opportunity to compete in the IPSF International Patient Counselling Event. Ms Pascoe's win is also a proud moment for University of Canberra, its postgraduate pharmacy degree is less than five years old.
PSOTY continues to be proudly sponsored by Alphapharm. Mr Tillack said the competition was among the most satisfying events the company was involved in.
