Could food allergies have made my child autistic?
Main Category: AllergyArticle Date: 11 May 2004 - 0:00 PDT
The link between autism and allergy has never been scientifically proven, but there are plenty of parents who insist that it exists. In this article, 38-year-old Jackie Stephenson from Louth in Lincolnshire, UK, explains how she lost her little girl to this heart-breaking condition, and why she believes a change in her diet brought her back.
Today, when I watch my daughter, Georgia, playing in the garden with her brother, Ben, I can hardly believe the nightmare this family has been through.
It's still the little things that amaze me - Georgia writing me a story on the computer or taking part in her school sport's day races. Georgia looking into my eyes and holding my hand as she tells me about her day.

Dietary Intervention
posted by Larry Kolibar on 12 May 2004 at 1:29 pmI am 100% convinced that dietary intervention has helped my son recover from autism.
We began eliminating wheat, gluten and all dairy products from his diet at 26 months of age. Within two weeks he began using words again.
His ability to talk and understand us has never stopped as he remains on the GF/CF diet. We also use some very specific suppliments and enzymes to boost his digestion.
No Way!
posted by anna on 29 Sep 2004 at 10:27 amToo long have we listened to other so called experts tell us what is right for us. What are they prooting to our society. I attend school to see the students in my class discussing the new fab diet they are on. I ask them why and they say that they are too fat. Where did this image come from, well we do not have to look futher then the lounge room. Media, tv gives the boys and girls the message about how thin they need to be. And if any one does not fit this image then you are instantly disqualified. That is a great image the society has given. A good diet is one that is balanced, having bits of everything in moderation. Not Atkins, the one that has the AMA's approval and then AMA attacking, not the new Raw Food diet.
Girls of today you need everything in your diet because you are growing and need the nutrients that are supplied. Why you guys need to start ignoring the media's opinion on who's pretty and start looking, really looking at the personality. Cause remember (no offence) but as we grow up we change and get wrinkles and become 'round' at the stomach.
