The Association of the European Self-Medication Industry (AESGP) organizes in Brussels on 9-10 October 2007 a conference on "Harmonisation of herbal (medicinal) products and food supplements - Where do we stand in Europe?". The harmonisation of the legislative and regulatory environment for herbal medicines and food supplements has made considerable progress over the last years. Following the adoption of specific directives for both areas in the earlier part of this decade, the implementation work is in full swing, however with different speed and impact for European citizens and business operators.
The conference will look at the achievements made and at the work ahead. This will allow all those interested in the area to get a good understanding of the future legislative and regulatory framework for herbal (medicinal) products and food supplements.
Speakers of the conference will include Members of the European Parliament, high-level officials of the European Commission (Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry and Directorate-General Health and Consumer Protection), and representatives of the European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products (EMEA) and of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), as well as officials of national authorities.
The full programme of the conference can be found on the AEGSP website here.
