The new British Standard, BS OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems Requirements, has been updated and the changes may affect your business. A BSI British Standards conference on 9 October 2007 in Manchester will explain what these changes mean for your business. The conference will also look at implementation of the standard and demonstrate how it can improve your business performance.

As well as representatives of BSI British Standards, key speakers at the conference include Dr Andrew Cottam, Head of Operational Policy Unit at the Health and Safety Executive, discussing the significance of BS OHSAS 18001:2007 to the UK, and Richard Jones, Health, Safety and Environment Manager at Kellogg Company GB Ltd, who will present on 'Strategies for Successful BS OHSAS 18001 Integration'.

Day 2 of the conference offers an optional choice of two workshops: 'A practical guide to BS OHSAS 18001:2007' or 'Managing Stress in the Workplace'. The latter offers advice on recognising the warning signs of stress in an individual, risk-assessment in respect of work-related stress and the role of management style in stress related issues.

The conference is suitable for anyone responsible for health and safety within their organization: for example, health and safety managers, facilities managers, human resources managers and risk managers.
A limited number of conference places are available to the media on a first-come first-served basis which need to be reserved in advance. Please contact Lucy Fulton on 020 8996 7248 to reserve a place. The conference will take place at Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford, Manchester.
