The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation released a draft of Medication Therapy Management in Pharmacy Practice: Core Elements of an MTM Service (version 2.0) for public comment.

Version 2.0 focuses on the provision of MTM services across all pharmacy practice settings. It builds on the consensus definition of MTM established in 2004 and the model framework for implementing effective MTM services in a community pharmacy setting presented in Medication Therapy Management in Community Pharmacy Practice: Core Elements of an MTM Service (version 1.0) in 2005.

Draft version 2.0 is designed to improve care, enhance communication between patients and providers, improve collaboration among providers, and optimize medication use for improved patient outcomes in all patient care settings. This version was developed with input from an advisory panel of pharmacy leaders representing diverse pharmacy practice settings and representatives from the national pharmacy organizations who participated in the formation of the MTM consensus definition. Medication Therapy Management in Pharmacy Practice: Core Elements of an MTM Service (version 2.0).

The draft document is open for public comment until October 19, 2007. The link to the draft for public comment is http://https://www.pharmacist.com/mtm/DraftElements. On the front page of the draft is a link to a Web site for comment submission. APhA and the NACDS Foundation welcome and encourage the review and submission of comments on the draft from all interested parties.
