Robert Michael Educational Institute LLC will introduce a new continuing education resource as part of their exhibit booth at the 45th Annual Meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), October 4-7, in San Diego, California. Project CDAD: Outbreak Prevention and Control is designed to assist healthcare providers in preventing and controlling Clostridium difficile-Associated Disease (CDAD) in their hospitals.
C. difficile is a bacterium that typically causes mild to moderate diarrhea, but more recently has been associated with more serious disease, with significant morbidity and mortality. Critical to the prevention and control of C. difficile in the hospital setting are rapid and accurate diagnosis, the initiation of aggressive treatment, optimal infection control, and ongoing antibiotic stewardship.
To assist institutions dealing with C. difficile outbreaks, Project CDAD: Outbreak Prevention and Control has brought together a team of leading infectious diseases experts from across North America with first-hand experience managing C. difficile outbreaks. These experts will visit hospitals across the country dealing with an outbreak of C. difficile and present a 1- hour continuing education lecture. Experts will also spend an additional 1 to 2 hours with the key personnel at the site, discussing the specific problems the institution is having with CDAD. This program is being offered free of charge.
Continuing education credit is being offered for physicians, pharmacists, and nurses through the joint sponsorship of Robert Michael Educational Institute LLC and Postgraduate Institute for Medicine. This program is supported by an educational grant from ViroPharma Incorporated.
