The American Pharmacists Association is calling for candidates in the 2008 APhA-Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APhA-APPM) and APhA-Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science (APhA-APRS) Elections. The application is now available at http://www.pharmacist.com.

Candidates must submit the following items along with the application:

- 3 x 4 or 5 x 7 photograph suitable for publication (color or black and white acceptable).

- 100 word biographical sketch

APhA-Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APhA-APPM) Executive Committee has an opening for a Member-at-Large (Clinical/Pharmacotherapeutic and Hospital/Institutional representative) and a Member-at-Large (Nuclear and Specialized Pharmacy Practice representative).

The APhA-APPM Administrative Practice Section has openings for Chair-elect and Member-at-Large. The Clinical/Pharmacotherapeutic Practice and Specialized Pharmacy Practice Sections have openings for Chair-elect and New Practitioner. The Community & Ambulatory Practice and Nuclear Pharmacy Practice Sections have Chair-elect and Member-at-Large availability. The Hospital & Institutional Practice Section is looking for a Chair-elect and New Practitioner.

The APhA-Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science (APhA-APRS) has the following positions available: President-elect, Postgraduate Officer, and Chair-elect for Basic Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Economic, Social and Administrative Scieces (ESAS).

All Officers serve a two-year term, except the President-elect who will serve a four-year term; one year as President-elect, two years as President and one year as Immediate Past President.


The 2008 election timeline is as follows:

- December 14, 2007: Application deadline for 2008 APhA election cycle
- January-February, 2008: Nomination Committees meet, election slate announced
- May 30, 2008 - July 25, 2008: Voting period for 2008 elections
- August 1, 2008:2008 APhA election results announced
