Commenting on the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill, which has its second reading in the House of Commons, RCN Director of Nursing and Service Delivery, Janet Davies said;

"Violence against NHS staff is unacceptable. Nurses and their colleagues should be able to provide care for their patients free from the threat of violence or the distractions that nuisance behaviour presents.

"The RCN welcomes this legislation as it promotes the message that nuisance behaviour will not be tolerated on NHS premises and creates new powers for NHS bodies to deal with this behaviour before it escalates"

Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is the voice of nursing across the UK and is the largest professional union of nursing staff in the world. The RCN promotes the interest of nurses and patients on a wide range of issues and helps shape healthcare policy by working closely with the UK Government and other national and international institutions, trade unions, professional bodies and voluntary organisations.
