The Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM) has unveiled its newly designed Web site and new name. The site, http://www.vascularmed.org, features a fresh design, improved navigation and enriched resources for vascular medicine professionals.

Two new online features include the Interactive Case Study and the Vascular Medicine Image. Both present a vascular medicine case using text or images, and then invite the reader to answer questions and test their skills. These features will alternate monthly. The inaugural feature is an image from the journal, Vascular Medicine. The site also features a robust job bank, slides from the annual meeting, and more.

The improvements to the SVM Web site coincide with the society's new name the Society for Vascular Medicine approved at the SVM Annual Business Meeting in June. The new name becomes official on Jan. 1, 2008, but "SVM" is being introduced in the Society's publications, and on the SVM Web site as a transition. In addition, SVM is planning its first stand-alone annual meeting, May 29-June 1, in Minneapolis, and is continuing and expanding its advocacy work.

Dropping "Biology" from the Society's name acknowledges that vascular medicine includes clinical practice treating patients with arterial, venous and lymphatic disease, as well as performing clinical and basic research. Vascular biologists will always be a key segment of SVM's membership.

The Society for Vascular Medicine, formerly the Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology, was founded in 1989 to promote and advance the disciplines of vascular medicine and vascular biology.
