A Japanese cosmetics company may have made a breakthrough in the fight against Alzheimer's disease. The company, FANCL, says that its research team has found that pre-germinated brown rice is effective in preventing Alzheimer's disease. The study was carried out with Meijo University and led by Professor Makoto Ukaj, Japan.

The beta-amyloid protein induces deficits in memory and learning. According to animal experiments carried out by the team, a continuous intake of brown rice effectively inhibits the actions of beta-amyloid protein.
