Paula Radcliffe, world marathon champion, proved that she's not just a star on the track when she won £16,000 for Asthma UK on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? last week.

In a special Olympic edition of the ITV quiz, Paula and fellow athlete Jonathan Edwards together notched up an amazing £64,000 - only four questions away from the £1 million jackpot.

Half of all the prize money from the show went to the British Olympic Association, while guests nominated their own charities for the remainder of their winnings.

Paula, who has asthma herself, chose to support Asthma UK, with a donation that will fund vital research to help the 5.1 million people in Britain who have the condition.

Paula and Jonathan demonstrated their grasp of a broad range of subjects, knowing that a half-tester is a bed and being able to correctly identify the breed of Geri Halliwell's dog (Shih-tzu).

After using all their lifelines - and a couple of inspired guesses - they decided to call it a day rather than risk their £64,000 when asked to name the country lying to the east of Ukraine. Although, as host Chris Tarrant was characteristically keen to point out, had they gone with their instincts (Russia) they would have doubled their money!

Congratulations and thanks go to Paula and Jonathan.
