Constella Group, a global professional health services company, is pleased to announce that application cycles for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) DNA Resequencing and Genotyping (RS&G) Service have been expanded. The program, which previously offered two application cycles, is now accepting applications four times per year - February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1 - to allow researchers more opportunities to submit requests.
The RS&G Service was established by NHLBI in 2004 to help researchers more rapidly identify the disease pathways of heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders by offering high-quality resequencing and genotyping at no cost to qualified investigators. Constella Group serves as the Administrative Coordinating Center under contract with the NHLBI. NHLBI is part of the National Institutes of Health.
To apply for the RS&G Service, researchers can download an application from the Service website at http://rsng.nhlbi.nih.gov. The site also offers more details about the program, application criteria and contact information.
The RS&G Service has three laboratory centers with high-throughput, large-scale DNA resequencing or genotyping capacity. The University of Washington and the J. Craig Venter Institute perform the DNA resequencing services. The Johns Hopkins University performs the genotyping services.
As the Administrative Coordinating Center for the RS&G Service, Constella Group is responsible for all logistical efforts, coordinates activities between the prestigious centers and the NHLBI, maintains the website the company built, handles the application process, and promotes the RS&G Service at various professional meetings.
"Constella is pleased to support the expansion of the application cycles for 'RS&G' to give investigators more opportunities to advance their research," said Chris LeGrand, president of Constella's public sector. "NHLBI is a leader in supporting research and in developing creative programs to remove barriers faced by researchers. Constella is honored to help facilitate this program as it works to help pinpoint the cause of the devastating diseases affecting the heart, lungs and blood."
The next application cycle for the RS&G Service ends November 1. For more information, visit http://rsng.nhlbi.nih.gov.
