The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) presented its first annual Auxiliary of the Year Award to the Auxiliary of Corning Hospital at the 41st Annual Institute for Health Care Auxiliaries, held October 14-16 in Queensbury. In addition, there were two honorable mentions: Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center Auxiliary in Brooklyn and Samaritan Medical Center Auxiliary in Watertown.
"HANYS congratulates the Auxiliary of Corning Hospital for receiving HANYS' inaugural Auxiliary of the Year Award. The award recognizes the Auxiliary of Corning Hospital's outstanding commitment to its facility and the health of its community," said Sue Ellen Wagner, HANYS' Vice President, Community Health and Executive Director of Healthcare Trustees of New York State. "HANYS commends the honorable mention recipients and all of the award nominees for the important work they do every day to support health care."
The Auxiliary of Corning Hospital, chosen by an expert panel from among 31 nominations, was recognized for its numerous community outreach activities, which include programs focused on children's wellness and breast cancer awareness. The auxiliary also conducts numerous fundraisers for the hospital, manages the facility's gift shop, and helps maintain the hospital's gardens. Rose Blackwell, President, accepted the award on behalf of the auxiliary.
HANYS will distribute a publication in the coming months containing profiles of all 31 auxiliaries that were nominated for the award.
The Healthcare Association of New York State is the only statewide hospital and continuing care association in New York State, representing more than 550 non-profit and public hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies, and other health care organizations.
