Inspired Technologies, Inc., an innovative respiratory device company, announced it has obtained FDA 510(k) clearance for its VIAspire™ Oxygen Portable, a key component of the VIAspire™ Personal Oxygen System. The lightweight, long duration & quick-to-fill portable provides a ready supply of liquid oxygen for patients requiring oxygen therapy, such as those with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
The VIAspire Oxygen Portable features SmartDose™ technology, a new and unique proprietary algorithm that responds to a patient's breath rate. SmartDose technology delivers more oxygen when the patient needs it most, supporting optimal oxygen saturation levels and thus promoting activity. Studies have shown that increased activity improves patient outcomes.
"The entire VIAspire Personal Oxygen System is designed to give COPD patients the confidence to lead independent, active lives," said Dan Easley, President and CEO of Inspired Technologies. "Unlike other systems that focus on oxygen conservation, the VIAspire system focuses on oxygen saturation. Patients don't feel breathless, so they stay active - and that's better for them."
Another essential part of the VIAspire Personal Oxygen System, the VIAspire™ Liquefier, received FDA 510(k) clearance in September. Added Easley, "We have an outstanding product platform for providers to offer COPD patients. With our products, providers can eliminate frequent deliveries associated with liquid oxygen, assure physicians and therapists of best-in-class technology, and COPD patients can be more active with the SmartDose portable."
The VIAspire Oxygen Portable fills faster and lasts longer than transfilled gas portables since it docks to the VIAspire Liquefier. Previously, frequent and expensive deliveries of liquid oxygen limited patient access - now, with the VIAspire Liquefier, which creates liquid oxygen in the home from the patient's oxygen concentrator, a ready supply of liquid oxygen is always available for the patient. The VIAspire Oxygen Portable is available in three sizes: the VIAspire™ Portable 300 weighs 4 pounds filled and lasts approximately 6-8 hours, while the VIAspire™ Portable 600 weighs 6 pounds filled and lasts 11-14 hours. Both feature SmartDose technology. The largest portable, the VIAspire™ Portable 1200, delivers oxygen via a silent and continuous-flow mechanism for nocturnal use.
Inspired Technologies (formerly COPD Partners), develops respiratory devices that align the interests of patients, home medical equipment providers, clinicians and payers. Inspired Technologies' unique oxygen liquefication and patient-delivery technologies establish a new standard of home respiratory care for COPD patients, while offering home oxygen providers a way to expand their patient base. These devices improve the COPD patient's saturation, ambulatory ability and overall quality of life, leading to better patient outcomes.
