A new bird flu (avian flu) outbreak has just been uncovered in Thailand. According to Thai authorities the outbreak is in Chiang Mai, a city in the north of the country. Several birds are infected at a demonstration farm which is attached to the university of Chiang Mai.

According to a spokesman from the Thai Livestock Department, the university of Chiang Mai has notified the health authorities that many chickens, geese, ducks and several other types of birds have become ill and died over the last week.

Health authorities have culled over 1,000 birds so far.
