It's a busy month for the Ayr Tartan Army. Not one but two big challenges ahead, and that doesn't include the result of the Scotland v Italy game on November 17th. All in memory of Scottish football legend Ally MacLeod and in aid of Alzheimer Scotland.

On Sunday 11th November, the boys will be playing the mighty (and infamous!) Dukla Pumpherston: a motley crew of former professional players and television personalities who tour the world enjoying themselves, while raising cash for excellent causes. The team includes such well kent names as Tommy Sheridan and Ally McCoist and is captained by Chick Young.

Tickets are selling fast and between 400 and 500 spectators are anticipated. Dukla Pumpherston have also hinted that this could become an annual event. Get down to Dam Park this Sunday and you'll have the glory of being at the inaugural match!
However, this is only the warm up for the main event on November 17th, when fifteen members of the Ayr Tartan Army will walk the 34 miles between Ayr United's Somerset Park and Hampden Stadium.

With the co-operation of the SFA and Strathclyde Police, the route has been planned to make sure the lads arrive in time for the kick-off for the Euro 2008 qualifier between Scotland and Italy. There will be a half-time cheque presentation (sponsorship total so far is over £4000 and rising daily) on the pitch, where the Ayr Tartan Army will present the money raised to Gail Pirie (Ally MacLeod's daughter), who will receive the cheque on behalf of Alzheimer Scotland.
