How to understand and assist people at work will be the basis of the annual conference for occupational psychologists in the UK.

The British Psychological Society's Division of Occupational Psychology Annual Conference is to take place from Wednesday 9 January until Friday 11 January 2008 at the Stratford-upon-Avon Holiday Inn in Warwickshire.

Over the three days almost 100 papers, symposia and workshops will be presented at the conference and around 400 occupational psychologists from across the UK will be attending.

Among the subjects included in the programme are:

- Childhood personality predicting career paths
- Crying at work
- Parents juggling work and home
- Job rejection like being unlucky in love

Keynote speaker Peter Saville, of Saville Consulting Group Ltd, will also address the conference with a talk entitled "Personality Questionnaires - Valid Inferences, False Prophecies." While Sharon K. Parker, Professor of Work Psychology at University of Sheffield, will give the other keynote address on "Making things happen: Proactive behaviour in the work place ."

Preceding the main conference, the Postgraduate Occupational Psychology Conference will take place on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 January 2008. This event offers an exciting mix of skills workshops, networking opportunities and postgraduates presentations focussing on their research.

A press office will operate throughout the main Division of Occupational Psychology conference, opening at 9am on Wednesday 9 January 2008. All papers are embargoed until the date and time of delivery unless indicated otherwise on a news release.
