Oncology nurses are needed to participate in a research study at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing to determine the effectiveness of continuing education programs on oncology nurses' knowledge of and confidence in recommending exercise to women with breast cancer.

Knowledge gained from this study will be used to determine if online education is a useful method of providing continuing education to oncology nurses. The study is designed to measure changes in oncology nurses' knowledge of and confidence in recommending exercise to women with breast cancer before and after an online continuing education program on exercise theory and practice for women with this disease.

Participation involves taking surveys to capture the nurses' current self-confidence level in recommending exercise to women who have completed treatment for breast cancer, as well as a demographic survey to help the investigators understand the characteristics of oncology nurses who are completing the education program. Participants also will be expected to complete three educational modules on the subject matter as well as pre-tests, post-tests and a program evaluation. Total participation time will be less than five hours. Upon satisfactory completion of this online program, continuing nursing education contact hours will be awarded through the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited provider of the American Nurses Credentialing Center. There is no charge for participating in this study.
