The Medical Defence Union (MDU) has announced new dates for its popular Ethics and Law Workshops which are designed to help doctors navigate their way past tricky ethical dilemmas they face in everyday practice and earn continuing professional development (CPD) points in the process.
The workshops, now in their sixth year, are held at the MDU's head office in London and sessions are led by respected medical ethics specialist and author, Mark Brennan, alongside a doctor from the MDU medico-legal advisory team. The course is ideal for all hospital doctors, GPSTs, GPs and consultants and areas covered include confidentiality, consent and risk management. Past workshops have been well received and all those doctors asked last year said they would recommend them to their colleagues.
The dates for the this year's Workshops are:
- Tuesday 4 March 2008
- Wednesday 3 September 2008
- Wednesday 19 November 2008.
The workshops cost £150 for MDU members and £195 for non-MDU members which includes an attendance certificate (approved for 5 CPD credits by the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK), course materials, lunch and refreshments. Doctors can register for the workshops online or download an application form on the GP or hospital doctor sections of the MDU website (http://www.the-mdu.com).
