Diabetes UK is calling on all enthusiastic swimmers to take part in this year's relay race across the English Channel.

Last August, four teams of six spirited swimmers tackled the English Channel in a relay race, raising £8,000 for Diabetes UK.

The swimmers took it in turns to swim for an hour each between Dover and Cap Gris Nez in France, taking an average of 15 hours all together.

Take up the challenge

Diabetes UK is now looking for people, including those with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, to take up the challenge in 2008.

If you are fit and looking for a challenge then we would love to hear from you! You will be supported throughout your preparations by Diabetes UK and Rob Healey who has Type 1 diabetes and was a key member of the team in 2007. Training days will take place in Dover where you will meet your team mates and have a chance to acclimatise to the conditions.

Sign up or get more information

The event is a real challenge but if you are prepared to train it will be more than worth it. If you are interested please contact Emily Jones by calling 020 7424 1866 or emailing emily.jones@diabetes.org.uk.
