Promoting Quality of Life through the Healthy Municipalities and Communities Strategy:

Guide for Mayors and Other Local Authorities

The Kit provides mayors, other local authorities, and other policy-and decision-makers a practical strategy to promote people's health and quality of life, and which can produce results in the short, medium and long term.

The Kit includes and defines a few health promotion terms related to the process of implementing HMC such as empowerment and healthy public policy which may be unfamiliar.

This Kit has been developed to contribute to good governance in health at the local level. It is intended to support mayors and other local authorities in this effort, as they have the mandate from their constituents and thus the responsibility and the opportunity to motivate and provide the driving force to promote the health and quality of life of the population.
