The Royal College of Radiologists welcomes this report, which highlights the specific problems faced by radiotherapy and breast screening services in London. Responding to the London Assembly Health and Public Service Committee's report, Dr Michael Williams, Dean of the RCR's Faculty of Oncology, said, "This report draws attention to highly relevant issues around staff retention due to the cost of living, varying workloads, and commissioning relationships between PCTs and acute trusts.

"In particular, the College endorses the call for a pan-London coordination of services. This coordination should be backed up by substantial investment in equipment, staffing levels and training places, as laid out in the Department of Health's Cancer Reform Strategy, so that we can continue to strive to deliver prompt and accurate treatment to all cancer patients, across London and the whole of the UK".

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has approximately 7,500 members and Fellows worldwide representing the disciplines of clinical oncology and clinical radiology. All members and Fellows of the College are registered medical or dental practitioners.
