UroToday.com - The authors believe that this case series highlights a concern that was once theoretical and now appears real: the ideal screening regimen and the true incidence of malignancy in patients who have undergone bladder augmentation remain unknown.

We believe the establishment of a national registry would allow for a more accurate determination of the cancer incidence and the efficacy of screening protocols for these patients. We hope that our work and work by other investigators in this field will lead to the establishment of a national registry, and, ultimately, better care for these patients.

Written by Vijaya M. Vemulakonda, MD, JD, as part of Beyond the Abstract on UroToday.com. This initiative offers a method of publishing for the professional urology community.
