Dealing With Anxiety
posted by isis nixon on 04 Aug 2008 at 7:10 amI have been suffering from Anxiety since i was 8 i'm 29 now and still haven't learnt to control it, I was placed in foster homes when i was very young and it stems back from then, whenever i have a difficult time ahead which may not seem like a big deal to most people i feel like my heart beats so fast that i may suffer a heart attack, this sounds so dramatic but i honestly feel like that, i have tried so many things to combat it - postive thoughts, telling myself it's ok and i will feel normal again soon, but it's still a stuggle, breating exercises help temporarily,
But really i need to learn to live with this constant feeling of fear. The strangest thing is everyone around me believes I'm extremely confident, bubbly outgoing and carefree, they couldn't be more wrong and sometimes i can't believe they can't see the anxiety oozing out as it feels so intense to me. if any one has any suggestions please help, my doctor won't prescribe me Diazepam which is the only thing i find works all other medications just enhance the feeling... please tell me i'm not alone and others feel just like this ??

| Anxiety? |

| I suffered from anxiety and believe a lot of it comes from past childhood memories. I was moved constantly and went through a violent divorce. When anxiety comes at you the strongest I need to tell you something very important" YOU CANT'T DIE" even if you feel like you just can't take it no more. Never give up! I know exactly how it feels and have been to the ER more than once thinking I was having a heart attack. I believe people with strong anxiety attacks are chosen but can't control the power. I can back this theory up by proving it to yourself. When an attack comes you will not know what, why, how long.... all you know is that your body is at full defense. You want help but you think nobody can understand. You think that you might be the one that dies tragically. Bottum line is that you think only about yourself when an attack occurs. OK everything that your scared of is actually scared of you. Remember that bad can never overcome good never its a promise from God. I would like to share more information about this thing named 'anxiety' feel free to ask a question. |

Hi Lindy, I've come across your posting from researching about "adrenal fatigue/exhaustion" but have suffered from anxiety and depression since 1995. At that time, I had to undergo telemetry tests for epilepsy and in order to cause a seizure for the tests the surgeon withdrew all of my anticonvulsant medication, cold turkey.
It was horrendous and in my opinion barbaric. It resulted in my having 47 fits within 48 hours. Therefore, I can only conclude that that experience caused my panic/anxiety attacks. Though what I really want to ask you to do, is scrutinize the additives in all foods you have in your home. I haven't read any site rules to see if links are permissable or not but please start here; http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&hl=en-GB&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGIH_en-GBGB272GB272&q=anxiety+food+additives I am in the process of eliminating as many foods as possible that have additives. I am having to outsource farm shops instead of supermarkets. Call me a conspiracy theorist, I don't mind, but I had always had reservations about the relationship between the behaviour of children and additives years ago. There are becoming an increasing amount of medical reports now supporting this. Kind regards, Bill. |
| Anxiety Cause: Unrealistic Expectations |

This article, and most others, fail to clearly state a common cause of anxiety: unrealistic expectations. Think about those expectations you have -- or are imposed upon you by professors, bosses, coaches -- and acknowledge they are unrealistic. Establish your own realistic expectations that you can truly live with, and watch what happens to your anxiety.
Work with the expectors, too, and explain why their expectations are unrealistic for you. |
