Saturated Fats Do Not Deserve The Reputation They Have

posted by Fred Hahn on 02 Nov 2009 at 8:12 am

Saturated fats are not the evil villains they are purported to be. In fact, there is little if any scientific evidence to support the idea that they are the cause of heart disease.

This paper: The Questionable Role of Saturated and
Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Cardiovascular Disease published in J Clin Epidemiol Vol. 51, No. 6, pp. 443-460, 1998 sheds solid light on this subject.

And using Grandma's sticky buns as an example of a food high in saturated fat is a poor example. Grandma's sticky buns are primarily refined carbohydrate - the real demon and purveyor of ill health.
