But What Do We Do?
posted by Anon on 05 Nov 2009 at 11:15 pmI just read a very helpful article on the different types of gingivitis and their risks to health. My question is this: no one wants to be sick, yet how do we solve this problem (realistically)?
Eating is what causes it, and eating between meals (if we even eat meals) happens because our stomach is upset by stress (putting something in it stops that) or because stress depletes our stores and really does want something.
This is great for the stomach and our nerves and lifestyle (sometimes we can't choose the lifestyle), but bad for the teeth. I don't think they have come up with a way to solve this problem. Sealants possibly, one dentist suggested. Usually for kids, adults (if they can afford it) can get that.
Other than that, I think research and new ways to prevent this are lacking, and I think it's important.
Brushing is great, but then they say we can't brush too much (!), like if we did that every time we ate something.
So I have found myself with the most serious form of gingivitis. I'd be interested in anyone else's problem with this, and how you solved it, or even your struggles with same.
Thanks
