horrible side effects with lunesta
posted by ami473 on 03 Aug 2005 at 2:36 pm
I have taken lunesta 2 nights in a row (3 mg). Regardless of the horrible taste in my mouth, I have been waking up with nightmares throughout the night. When I wake up from the nightmares, I'm very anxious. It takes a while to realize it was only a dream. Sometimes I think our body doesn't want us to sleep or dream for a reason. All of a sudden, being up several times at night seems better than having these dreams. I think these are going to wind up going down the drain.

I just got prescribed to lunesta yesterday and had been taking Cymbalta. Cymbalta did nothing for any depression but towards the end of usage ( 8 days at 60 mgs) I had one wierd dream that would cycle. The dream wasnt that bad it was just wierd how it would keep cycleing and I thought I was realy their. Yesterday afternoon I took 10 mg of Lunesta and the weird cycle style dream turned into crazy sick nightmares that would cycle and for the last 6 hrs of sleep, they didn't stop. I hope I can make ity through the first couple of days. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I have been on Lunesta for 4 days. The bad metallic taste last all day. I also don't think it works as well as the Ambien, but my insurance won't cover 30 Ambien. I'm going to give it a little longer. I am told the bad taste will go away, but ,if I thought I would have to endure it for much longer I don't think I could. Everything taste bad and I can't quench my thirst. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I took Lunesta for a couple of nights. The nightmares I had were pretty bad and scared me to the point that I couldn't go back to sleep. Ambien has worked much better for me, without any bad dreams.... | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I have been taking Lunesta a few days now. I havent really experienced the loss of coordination that I did with Ambien, although Ambien did put me to sleep faster. I wake up upbruptly around 6-7 hours after taking Lunesta and I have experienced the strange and colorful dreams that seem to linger after I wake up. The colorful dreams remind me of the dreams I had while taking malaria pills. Mefloquine or something like that. Lastly, the taste is horrible and lasts all day when I drink water. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

Taking lunesta for a week. I was wondering why I woke up with a headache and a bad taste and indigestion that lasted all day. It takes about 1/2 hour to fall asleep and I seem to wake up after 6 hours and then float in and out of sleep for an hour | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I have been taking lunesta for over 1.5 years. I started taking it for stress, but my stress went away but I became totally dependent on Lunesta. I could not fall asleep without it, but then would wake up in middle of night and not be able to fall asleep again, but I had to take it to fall asleep. I wanted to ween myself off it but since you can't cut it because of the horrible flavor it has you can only take the smallest dose table, 1mg. I complained to my doctor that I think there is a consipiracy by the maker of Lunesta to keep people on it by not being able to go off it with a smaller dose. He gave me some samples of a new medicine which is a high dose of melatonen and all natural and it works GREAT. I have been able to cut it and am slowly weening myself off by cutting it smaller and smaller. I am positive the metallic taste for Lunesta was put in so that you can't cut it and you become dependent on it. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

Lunesta causes crazy nightmares. Not just regular nightmares either, I'm talkin' extremely vivid and violent nightmares. sometimes the clarity of the nightmares is scary. I've also had the repetetive recycled dream - the same dream playing over and over. Lunesta and sleeping pills in general make you crazy while you sleep. Waking up feeling sane is a good feeling though. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I've been on Lunesta 2mg for about three weeks now, and it works great for me. Even if I'm really anxious and wide awake when I should be asleep, it puts me out. But I do still wake up about six hours later (not the 8 like they say). I don't want to take it forever, and I'm concerned about stopping it. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I have been taking Lunesta off and on for 2 years. I have weird dreams and I cannot remember what I have done from one day to the next. I do things and forget I have done them, and they make me feel like I am angry at the world. This only happens when I am on this drug. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

My prescription for Lunesta is 1/2 to 1 tablet (2MG) for insomnia. This is totally ineffective for me. Is Lunesta supposed to work for everyone?. Only on occasion I take two 2 -MG tablets hoping this will cause me to get some rest. One big problem I have been expreiencing is restless legs when in bed trying to go to sleep. I actually have to get out of bed. That is why I am on my computer now searching this out.. Has anyone had this problem with this drug? I have never taken Lunesta on a regular basis, perhaps once or twice a week (if that) . however, I do switch off to Ambien when I am in a desperate need for sleep I take an Ambien which helps me rest. I only take that on a very short term basis (2 - 3 days in a row) and then I lay off for awhie. Has anyone used ambien CR? What are your experiences using CR? Thank you | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I have taken almost all the new sleep meds that they have out and have found each one has its own pros and cons. In lunesta 2 mg pills, they don't work for me at all and I'm usually forced to take another one or just pop some OTC pills to get to sleep. Sonata is ok and if ur a hardcore insomiac like me it works best if u open the pill up and dump it into ur favorite soda, works quick and makes u really tired. And as far as ambien goes, I love ambien. But if I take the reccommended 1 10 mg pill when I wake up the next day I will be extremely neauseous all day. So I take half of the pill, wait 30 mintues, take the other half and go to bed. The best uninterrupted sleep of ur life. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I started taking Ambien, but I still woke up several times during the night. I switched to Ambien CR, but the lowest dose wouldn't keep me asleep and the next dose made it impossible for me to wake up. (I took one again over the weekend to get some rest. Took it at 10:30 PM, awoke the next day at 1:42 PM!!). Now I'm trying Lunesta. I don't have the taste problem, but man - the dreams! They are full-color, crazy, sometimes scary dreams. At first Lunesta worked great, but the dreams are getting worse, and I think they are taking away from my sleep - I now seem to be more tired during the day again. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

The bad taste in the mouth is HORRIBLE... almost unbearable, even the next morning...not worth it in my opinion unless you plan on sucking on candy ALL DAY LONG....which is the only way to at least MASK the taste... ambien cr works like a charm...take it early, especially the power pill as i call it, the 12.5 mg :) | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I can't believe the taste in my mouth! I will never take this medication again.. I have taken ambien for a few months and it works like a charm and my doc said that I should try Lunesta for long term use. I hate this taste. I can't sleep at all without taking something, and I would rather not sleep than have this taste in my mouth. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I took my wife's new Lunesta (2mg) probably about 3-4 times a week, and started to get some really bad panic attacks. The first one I took a trip to the hospital with a pulse rate of 150. I checked out ok, and did the stress test, and multiple blood works, everything was ok.
Then I thought maybe it's this Lunesta! I went off it, and I got about 80% better, but it's now been 3 weeks and I still feel low levels of anxiety and nervousness most of the day. Has anyone experienced anyhting like this?
It's like I lost my confidence and I can't get it back. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator

I have been taking Lunesta for 7 months and about 4 months ago, I started having stabing chest pain. Went to the doctor and they said that I was having a panic attack. The pain is unreal.
I went to a neurologist and they are sugesting that I may have M.S. This is very strange. How is it possible that my M.S. syptoms started when I started to take Lunesta?
I am never taking Lunesta again. Right nows my life has turned into a nighmare and I truly think that it is because of this drug. All of my syptoms sound very familiar to the other people who took Lunesta. | previous page | post followup | alert a moderator
