The TEMPUR-ProAdapt mattress is available as a hybrid or all-foam model. It also comes in different firmness styles, meeting different sleeping needs and preferences.
In this article, we discuss the TEMPUR-ProAdapt mattress and its features. We also list its pros and cons and offer alternative options.
Tempur-Pedic offer all-foam and hybrid mattresses, pillows, adjustable smart bases, and accessories.
The material used in TEMPUR mattresses was initially developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) engineers.
They created a “slow spring back,” or viscoelastic, foam containing open cells sensitive to heat. Companies used this new technology, intended to absorb G-force, in seat cushions for space shuttles.
Once NASA released the formula, Tempur-Pedic adjusted the foam to make it more adaptable, durable, and able to dissipate heat. As a result, the material responds to a person’s body weight, shape, and temperature.
This material is present in Tempur-Pedic mattresses. The company claim that the pressure-relieving viscoelastic contours the natural shape of the body, unlike memory foam, which simply compresses under a person’s weight.
All Tempur-Pedic mattresses have CertiPUR-US certification, meaning they do not contain harmful chemicals and have low volatile organic compound emissions.

The TEMPUR-ProAdapt mattress is an upgraded version of the TEMPUR-Adapt mattress. TEMPUR-ProAdapt offers more customization options than the standard model.
The TEMPUR-ProAdapt mattress is available in two versions: all-foam and hybrid.
The all-foam model has a core of high density polyfoam that sits below two layers designed to contour the body and relieve pressure.
It comes in three firmness options:
- Soft: It is best for side sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds (lb).
- Medium: This firmness is most suitable for side, back, and stomach sleepers who weigh 130–230 lb.
- Firm: The company claim this firmness is best for people who carry more body weight.
The hybrid version is only available as themedium hybrid model. Tempur-Pedic state it is best for side, back, and stomach sleepers who prefer a springier feel to their mattress.
The medium hybrid option features the same layers as the all-foam model but has pocketed coils within its polyfoam core. According to the company, this makes the hybrid highly adaptable, comfortable, and supportive.
Both the all-foam and hybrid models include a zip-off cover that is cool to the touch and machine washable. The cover also has antimicrobial properties, protecting against common allergens, such as dust mites, dander, and mold.

There is a link between insufficient sleep and chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, depression, and obesity. People who do not get adequate sleep are also more prone to accidents and injuries.
A 2015 review found that a medium-firm, self-adjusted mattress is the best option for promoting comfort and quality of sleep and proper spinal alignment.
Using a mattress suited to a person’s sleeping position is also important.
In a 2010 study, researchers replaced people’s usual mattresses with individually prescribed medium-firm mattresses. The researchers made sure that the new mattresses were suitable for the participants’ dominant sleeping positions.
After 12 weeks, the participants reported less back pain and stiffness and better sleep quality overall. The researchers concluded that people may benefit from choosing a mattress that suits their individual sleeping position preferences.
The TEMPUR-ProAdapt mattress has received a lot of positive reviews online. It is available in four variations, and therefore it is likely to suit most sleeping positions and needs.
