Experienced acute urinary retention about 16 months ago as a result of an enlarged prostate. Treatment with drugs was unsuccessful. Underwent a transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) which was very successful in every way with one exception, the pathology report showed prostate cancer. Further testing indicated treatment would be required. I opted to have Dr. Manwaring perform a robot assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). Possible negative side effects from both a TURP and an RARP can be very intimidating. I experienced almost no pain and minimal side effects from either procedure. This doesn't happen by chance. You need a skilled surgeon to get these kinds of results. If I could give Dr. Manwaring a rating of 10 stars I would.
