Tokyo (JCNN) - Leading Japanese beverage manufacturer Suntory announced that its research division Suntory Institute for Health Care has discovered a beneficial effect of Rokkaku Reishi, a kind of Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) richly containing beta-glucan.

The institute has confirmed that the Rokkaku Reishi mushroom helps alleviate side effects of cyclophosphamide (CY), one of the anticancer prodrugs used in chemotherapies.

Detailed research results were presented at the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Cancer Association held in Fukuoka, from September 29 to October 1.
